Dear Professional:
I am seeking Purchasing, Program Management, Administration, Merchandising, Marketing, Promotions and Advertising, Customer Service, Communications and/or Product/Brand Management opportunities with firms in major metropolitan areas throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest, but would consider select other regions. Specifically, I can bring demonstrated experience and success in enhancing the purchasing, brand and category management, planning, marketing, advertising, communications and promotions, strategic sourcing, training, operations, analysis, inventory control and distribution activities of a leading merchandising organization as a result of my long employment in both the department store and the home center industry. On the creative side, in entrepreneurial positions, I successfully conceived, owned and operated an historic 225-seat silver service restaurant for a number of years and launched and operated a company of several high-end casual menswear boutiques. Additionally, I have enjoyed off-resume experience in the manufacturing sector in a national sales and marketing function, and early in my career as an executive associate with leading New York department stores. I am confident that I can offer a significant contribution to any employer regardless of industry discipline within a brief familiarization time frame and, as a result of my body of work experience (both noted and not included on my resume), I believe I am well suited for many of the duties and responsibilities which you may have currently available or upcoming in the near future.
I have enjoyed broad experience most notably in purchasing, procurement and pricing management, assortment planning and quality control, process improvement, print and electronic marketing, communications, display and presentation, store planning and design, promotions, operations, general and specific brand management and new product development, including numerous project management assignments. I performed graduating advertising and marketing responsibilities for DIY Home Warehouse merchandising assortments for more than 15 year, including theme, lay out, design and supervision of weekly flyers of up to 64 pages and all radio and television broadcasting of multiple spots per day on multiple stations in diverse markets. That position concurrently required supervision of store layout, design and product selection and inventory levels of a product assortment to one in excess of 45,000 skus. Early in my tenure there, I personally purchased diverse specific product categories and managed employees as many as 16 employees executing others. I have long been charged with identification, analysis and implementation of marketing initiatives on the bases of cost, accessibility, quality, customer service and other relevant factors, including packaging design and manufacture. I have marketed; project managed and enjoyed general administration positions with financial services products for Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. as well.
Recognized for polished communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, I have excelled in positions where forward looking analysis, and proven relationship management skills have been key to the cost effective and profitable merchandising and purchasing operations of a leading firm. I have interfaced with supplier operations on a global basis throughout my career, and am quick to learn new system software applications and am conversant with many. I have a strong knowledge of most MS Office Suite components and can rapidly adapt to new database software. I have also traveled widely and worked in a manufacturing and distribution environment for several years. Throughout my career, I have placed emphasis upon operation and administrative accuracy, training, presentation and skills on the “selling floor” and upon strong interaction with the end-user in the interest of meeting customer needs.
